Go Camping with Barbie and Her Friends

Measuring approximately 22 by 12 inches (W x H), the Barbie camper has plenty of space to house several dolls and the dog plus the included furniture and accessories. Sturdy and durable, this camper comes pre-assembled with four wheels that roll smoothly on both carpet and floors. There's room for two dolls to be strapped in with plastic seat belts in the front and plenty of space inside the camper for Barbie's sisters and friends to hang out. Accessories include 11 kitchen pieces, 12 pieces of silverware, and a full sheet of stickers of things like food, placemats, wall clock, and a garbage can to give the camper a real-life feel.

Fully Furnished Camper with Fun Features

The top of the camper pops up via a large sliding button on the side to reveal space to hang two curtains trimmed with ribbon and the hammocks. Our testers loved the pretty pink and blue stripes and ribbons on the curtains--a nice, homey detail. There's also plenty of room for one doll to fit on each hammock without pulling them down off their rods and hooks. A built-in bike rack at the rear holds a bike (sold separately) when everyone's ready to get back on the road.

Another sliding side button lets you open the side door down to reveal a pink seat and mounted flat-screen TV. The back door swings open when pushed, but our testers found that it gets caught halfway around unless the toilet seat is lifted up. But once this door is opened, it reveals a hidden lavatory with standing shower stall.

Easy Assembly--No Tools or Batteries Required

Parents will need to help with initial assembly of the furniture as well as the hanging of the curtains and hammocks. Little hands may need assistance using the sliding buttons as well.

Building the kitchenette area is relatively easy thanks to a pre-assembled stove/oven unit and clear visual directions. No hardware or batteries are required. All ages are sure to love placing the decorative stickers in the camper; our testers appreciated the easy-to-follow numbered pictures of where to put what. Little ones can also learn the correct way to set a table by placing the plates, silverware, mugs, and water bottles in the right spot. The Jacuzzi pops onto the interior of the side door once it's opened and can be filled with water for splashing fun. When it's time to pack up, everything fits inside the camper for fast and easy cleanup.

What's in the Box

Pre-assembled camper, kitchenette, Jacuzzi tub, stickers, bag of silverware, bag of pots, cups, and plates, toilet lid, shower curtain, two hammocks, two hammock curtains, dog figure, dog bed, fold-out bed with blankets, kitchenette seat, tabletop, and instructions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun, November 14, 2011

This camper is so cute! My daughter received it for her birthday and hasn't stopped playing with it yet. She has the Glamour camper and we actually like this one better. The wheels actually roll so you can "drive it around", the hammock system is really cute and the whole idea of the sisters camping together is wonderful. Very pleased with this latest addition to the Barbie line!

1.0 out of 5 stars Biggest piece of crap we've ever had, January 5, 2012
= Durability:1.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars

We received this as a gift for our 5 year old (and 6 year old by association). This is the biggest piece of crap we've ever had in our house and that's saying a lot considering all the crap toys out there (and in our house).

It seems you touch this thing and something falls off or breaks. My 5 year old really wants to play with it and has tried to on numerous occasions but after a while she gives up because it's always coming apart. It reminds me of the board game Mouse Trap--touch one little thing and it sets destruction in motion.

5 will take it for a spin around the house then have to stop and try to fix whatever broke.

The instructions to set it up aren't exactly helpful either and some of the furniture and the hide a bed are just plain flimsy.

Can't wait to take this thing to the range for target practice.

The dog door broke before I even got all the stickers on it. Nice engineering Mattel - two super thin plastic hinges aren't going to hold up to any type of play.

Update

Now that's it's finished, it's worse than I thought. The revolving back door is terribly sub-par. When the shower and toilet face the outside of the camper, the curtain rod will hit the exterior "C -pillar" when you attempt to spin it back. You have to manually pull the rod inwards towards the center of rotation. NOTE: the vertical panel which divides the shower and toilet appears to be the issue. This panel has an upper plastic snap which frequently dislodges from the center "hinge". This makes it hard to spin the door, which flexes the plastic enough that the shower rod pops out. I think I'll try some clear silicone to keep the panel attached to the hinge.
